July 4th Fireworks 2020 Near La Jolla Canceled: See Events Nearby

LA JOLLA, CA — Independence Day events across the country will not look the same this year, thanks to the coronavirus. Many cities and organizations decided to cancel their Fourth of July events, including in San Diego with the cancellation of a live "Big Bay Boom" for 2020. Organizers are planning a virtual event this year. Annual displays also were canceled in Ocean Beach, Mira Mesa and Coronado.

Also, no information was available whether the Bird Rock parade and festival will proceed this year.

But throughout San Diego County, there are some live fireworks displays still set to go on — including in Vista, Poway, Santee and El Cajon. Plus several communities are hosting stay-home, patriotic fun.
