La Jolla High Football: Vikings Can't Stop Valley Center
The visiting Jaguars score on their first six possessions on the way to a 53-14 victory.
There wasn't a lot to cheer about for fans at La Jolla High's home opener Friday night as the Vikings lost 53-14 to 2010 CIF San Diego Section Division IV runner-up Valley Center.
The Jaguars scored on each of their first six possessions to erase an early 7-0 La Jolla lead. A 26-point second quarter gave Valley Center a 40-7 lead at the half.
Running back Kenneth Martey was a bright spot for the Vikings, rushing for 117 yards on 12 carries, including a 65-yard run and the opening 8-yard touchdown. Mark Pollan had 24 yards on six carries and scored the other La Jolla touchdown from 3 yards out. Quarterback Bobby Schuman completed 5 of 11 passes for 96 yards.
