Hoover Comes Back in Final Quarter to Edge LJHS

jumped to a 10-0 lead over visiting Hoover and led 10-7 at the half on Friday night in Western League action, but the Vikings couldn't hold on, yielding 10 fourth-quarter points and falling to the Cardinals 17-10.
Quarterback Dionte Whitfield threw a pair of touchdowns for Hoover (5-3, 2-1), including the game-winner to Arthur Wilson from 15 yards out.
La Jolla (1-7, 0-3) took a 3-0 first-quarter lead on a 27-yard field goal by Eric Petrofsky, and went up 10-0 in the second quarter when Kenneth Martey scored on a 5-yard run. Martey rushed for 89 yards on 17 carries and had two receptions for another 17 yards.
