Paddle Out Honors Local Theodore "Ted" Smith

The community hosted a memorial paddle out for Theodore Smith, 52, who died surfing Windansea on New Year's Eve.

Hundreds came out to remember Theodore "Ted" Smith at Windansea Beach on Sunday afternoon. Smith, 52, died shortly after being pulled from the surf at the same beach on New Year's Eve.

Friends and family celebrated Smith's life from the shore and in the water. The event was full of laughs, tears and large waves.
