Photos: Sports Legends, Celebrities And Athletes Compete For a Cause

The San Diego Triathlon Challenge was held Sunday in La Jolla. The tri is unique because celebrities, sports legends, challenged athletes and able-bodied athletes compete side by side to raise funding for the Challenged Atheletes Foundation.

Participants included San Diego native Bill Walton, Basketball Hall of Famer; Jim Ryun, a three time Olympic competitor and former member of Congress; Sarah Reinertsen, first female above-knee amputee to finish the Ironman World Championship; and Anthony Smith, a retired Army major who lost an arm and his hip while serving in Iraq in 2004.

This annual event raises more than $1 million each year for the Challenged Athletes Foundation. The Foundation's mission is to provide people with physical disabilities the funding and support to participate in sports and fitness activities including swimming, biking and running.
