Scripps Mercy Hospital Announces New Chief Of Staff
Dr. Megan Hamreus will oversee roughly 1,100 physicians at Scripps' San Diego and Chula Vista campuses.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA – A new chief of staff, Dr. Megan Hamreus, is in place for Scripps Mercy Hospital’s two campuses in San Diego and Chula Vista, officials announced today.
Hamreus, a decade-long medical member at Scripps Mercy Hospital and previously on staff at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, took over at the beginning of the year to oversee the 1,100-member physician team, succeeding the outgoing chief, Dr. Michael Sise.
A doctor of osteopathic medicine and surgery and board-certified in family medicine, Hamreus will serve as a liaison to Scripps Mercy San Diego’s administrative staff and Scripps Health’s board of trustees, health officials said.

“In addition to the outstanding care she delivers to our patients at Scripps Mercy, Dr. Hamreus has demonstrated exemplary leadership that has strengthened Scripps as a great place for physicians to practice medicine,” said Tom Gammiere, Scripps Health’s corporate senior vice president and regional chief executive. “We’re delighted to welcome her to this new role.”
While at Scripps, Hamreus has held numerous leadership positions and earned several accolades, hospital officials said. She was the past chief of family medicine for Scripps Mercy Hospital’s San Diego and Chula Vista campuses and was named physician of the quarter three times at Scripps La Jolla.
While serving as chief of staff, Hamreus will continue her work as a staff member at Family Health Centers of San Diego's family medicine residency training program.
