Take a Zip Line Adventure Day Trip
Navitat Canopy Adventures in Wrightwood, CA, is the perfect day trip for those seeking outdoor adventure.
Fill up your tank with gas, put on some closed-toe shoes and drive two and a half hours to Wrightwood, CA, for a high-flying good time.
Wrightwood is a quaint town and home of Mountain High, which offers skiing and snowboarding in the winter without a mountainous drive to get there.
Wrightwood's newest tourist attraction, Navitat Canopy Adventures, just opened in summer 2011 and will stay open every season but winter.

Participants are put into harnesses, given helmets and gloves and wisked off to the course in a big all-terrain vehicle.
From there, it's a short hike up to the first zip line where you learn how to use your gloved hand to brake.
Each tour is led by two guides. Ours were Joe Spigarelli and James Padersen. Both made us feel extremely safe. At first, I was nervous, especially because there had been a zip line death in Hawaii the week before my excursion.
Navitat takes all safety considerations seriously. The instructors run the course every morning. The company also takes the safety of the trees into consideration. The course is built with the lowest impact to the environment as possible.
Overall, I highly recommend a day trip to Navitat Canopy Adventures. If you do go in the fall, be sure to dress in layers because it gets cold up there in the trees. You can take a camera, just make sure it has a strap that you can use to connect to your harness. They also have a professional photographer up there to snap a few photos.
Navitat Canopy Adventures is open six days a week from now through Nov. 30. It will reopen April 1, 2012. For specials and promos, check out its Facebook page.
