University City Junior All-Stars Take Section Title

University City Little League's Juniors All-Star team, made up of 13- and 14-year-olds, claimed the Section 6 championship Wednesday night with an 8-6 win over the Patriot (Mission Trails) All-Stars.

As the District 32 Juniors champion, UC beat out three other district winners by winning three straight games. The team now moves on to the Southern California South Sub-Division Juniors tournament against other sectional winners from the SoCal area.

The double-elimination tourney will be held at the Arlington Heights Sports Complex in Riverside, at 9401 Cleveland Ave. UC's opening game is Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The event runs through July 28.

The South and North Sub-Division champs will meet in a best-of-three series July 30-31, also in Riverside, with the winner advancing to the Junior League Western Regional Aug. 2-9 in Aliso Viejo. That champion heads to the Junior League World Series in Taylor, MI, from Aug. 14-20.
