Video: Shark Drags Fisherman Out to Sea

A brave local was pulled a mile out to sea in his kayak by a shark while fishing La Jolla Shores. All of this action was caught on tape too. This video has received 24,525 views since it was first posted on YouTube two years ago. This classic video needs no other introduction. “Extreme Kayak Sleigh Ride by Johnny Ceviche” is La Jolla Patch’s YouTube Clip of the Week.

This fisherman is no joke. Johnny suspects the culprit in his shark powered trip to be either mako or thresher shark. He added these comments when he posted up the video: “Finally I got a sleigh ride of a lifetime. Knife on hand in case needed. I had enough, I put my feet on the water, tightened the drags in hope of slowing down the beast. Broke my line off after miles of sleigh ride. Lesson learned: some sharks are best left alone!!”

The video is 5 minutes and 11 seconds long but the rides ride starts at about 1 minute and 40 seconds in.
