
CORONA, CA — The Airport Fire in Corona was 100 percent contained Friday evening after burning about 1,100 acres.
The wildfire erupted shortly around 5:27 p.m. Dec. 1 within the Prado Reservoir, bordering Riverside and San Bernardino counties, on the north side of Corona Municipal Airport, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
The flames quickly charred 50 acres and exploded in size to 750 acres in just over 24 hours, according to the county fire department, which added the fire burned a total of 1,087 acres.

Several structures were threatened in the initial stages of the fire, but crews prevented the flames from causing damage.
There was no word on what might have sparked the blaze.
