DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA — Kmart stores in Desert Hot Springs and Redlands are among 26 "large format" Sears and Kmarts that will be closing throughout the country in late October, company officials said.

Liquidation sales will begin around Aug. 15 at the Kmart on Palm Drive in Desert Hot Springs, and the one in Redlands, on West Redleands Boulevard, according to Tranform Co., the parent company of Sears and Kmart. Management plans to focus on its expansion of smaller store formats.

"Following these steps, we will continue to evaluate our network of Sears and Kmart stores and cannot rule out additional store closures in the near term," Transform said. "Our goal remains to return the company to profitability and preserve as many jobs as possible in the communities we serve." See the full list here.
