215 Freeway Death Under Investigation: CHP

PERRIS, CA — A person was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday evening on the northbound Interstate 215 in Perris.

The crash was reported between the D and Fourth street exits at 9:35 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

A witness told the CHP they struck something that fell off a pickup truck and landed in lanes of the freeway.

Debris was spread across all northbound lanes of the freeway, the CHP said.

The accident prompted the full closure of the northbound lanes of the freeway between D and Fourth streets until further notice.

The CHP is investigating the incident.
