PERRIS, CA — A new retail plaza cleared a major hurdle after the Perris City Council approved the massive project, which will convert 358 acres of land in a parcel hub for FedEx, and create a commercial plaza that will include Sprouts and Hobby Lobby.

On April 14, the city council approved the Harvest Landing project after it came to an agreement with Howard Industrial Partners, the developer.

Some residents have expressed concerns about the number of warehouses in the city, as well as the environmental impact, and some have disagreed the project would be an economic boon for the city, which is expected to generate about $150 million annually and add 900 new jobs.

Howard also agreed to build a 16.5-acre sports park after the project starts, and to pay $2 million within 90 days of approval to support the city’s First Time Homebuyer Program.

Per the agreement approved by the council, Howard would not be able to build large warehouses in the city.

Tenants planned for the plaza, which would be built near the Interstate 215, include Sprouts, Hobby Lobby, and Sam's Club and Sprouts.
