RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA — Federal investigators have joined the search for a 74-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man whose bank accounts were drained and who hasn't been seen since last year.

On May 4, 2025, Nai Ping Hou was reported missing, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. The FBI says he was last seen about two months prior.

During that period, Hou's son believes that someone used his father's cell phone to impersonate him and send text messages to family members.

"[Always saying] he’s tired or he’ll call me later, just reasons that were strange,” Wen Hou told KTLA. “He had very short responses and didn’t share photos anymore over the course of those couple of weeks.”

Foul play is suspected, and by July of 2025, authorities "determined extensive fraudulent transactions were conducted using Mr. Hou's bank accounts around the time of his disappearance."

According to the FBI, Hou's bank accounts were "depleted" before authorities were notified about his disappearance.

A website has been set up to help find Hou, and a $250,000 reward is being offered in the case.

Hou was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds. He has black hair, black eyes, and a birthmark on his left upper shoulder. Investigators are also looking into information about a silver Toyota Yaris in connection with Hou's disappearance.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Detective Vanayes Quezada at 909-890-4848. Callers can also remain anonymous by contacting We-Tip at 800-78CRIME or at wetip.com.
