JURUPA VALLEY, CA — Some of the transportation, environmental and building maintenance workers carrying out daily operations for Riverside County agencies will be showcasing their gear and offering entertainment during a "Public Works Equipment Rodeo" later this month.
"Public works professionals often work behind the scenes, yet their contributions are essential to the safety, health and vitality of our communities," Board of Supervisors Chair Karen Spiegel said. "This event is an opportunity to recognize their dedication and give residents a closer look at the work that keeps Riverside County moving forward."
The Equipment Rodeo is set for 1 p.m. May 17 in Rancho Jurupa Park, 4600 Crestmore Road in Jurupa Valley. It'll be free and open to the public.
Along with exhibiting gear used for road work, clearing obstructions, removing hazards, recycling waste and related operations, agencies will host a beer garden, food vendors, musical entertainment and interactive displays that include information on prospective career opportunities.
The three-hour event was inspired by agencies' desire this year to formally recognize National Public Works Week.
