MENIFEE, CA — Two people were arrested and one person was cited during a DUI and driver's license checkpoint held in Menifee on Saturday, police said.
The checkpoint was staged at Newport and Winterhawk roads between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m., resulting in 1,274 vehicles being screened, according to the Menifee Police Department.
Police said two people were arrested for outstanding warrants, and one person was cited for having a suspended license.
Drivers charged with a first-time DUI can face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties and have their license suspended.
The DUI checkpoint was funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
