RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A brush fire that broke out Monday in Mead Valley scorched about three acres and briefly threatened a home before it was stopped.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 4:15 p.m. Monday in the area of Orange Avenue and Old Elsinore Road, roughly 1.5 miles west of Interstate 215, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate southward through medium vegetation, approaching a residence on Yucca Road.
Two Cal Fire air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter were summoned and initiated runs on the brusher by 4:40 p.m.
At 5 p.m., the fire's forward rate of spread was stopped.
No properties were damaged.
Full containment was expected by 6:30 p.m.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
