WILDOMAR, CA — The California State Board of Forestry and Fire Protection has recognized the City of Wildomar as a 2026 Fire Risk Reduction Community for its for wildfire planning and prevention efforts.
Officials made the announcement on Wednesday, adding that the statewide designation will allow Wildomar to receive priority consideration when applying for Cal Fire Wildfire Prevention Grants. The grants are intended for projects in and near fire threatened communities, according to Cal Fire.
The City said the designation is recognized under California's "Safer from Wildfires" insurance regulations, which insurance companies are required to consider when formulating homeowners insurance rates.
Residents were encouraged to contact their homeowners insurance provider to find out if the designation will affect their policy.
