MENIFEE, CA — A house fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon in Menifee spread to surrounding vegetation and damaged residential properties, fire officials said.
The blaze was reported at 4:10 p.m. near Cassandra Drive and Quail Place, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Fire officials said multiple engine crews from Riverside County Fire Department and Murrieta Fire & Rescue responded to the blaze and encountered flames in one house and electrical lines collapsed.
The fire reportedly extended into surrounding brush and burned another structure, possibly an outbuilding.
Residents at several homes reportedly evacuated voluntarily.
A Cal Fire water-dropping helicopter was initially summoned, but a battalion chief canceled the aircraft due to concerns about drops potentially causing significant damage to the fragile structures at the location.
No injuries or mandatory evacuations were reported.
No additional information was immediately available.
