Menifee PD Recover Loaded Gun During 'High-Risk' Traffic Stop

MENIFEE, CA — A domestic dispute in Menifee led to a "high-risk" traffic stop involving a suspect traveling with a loaded firearm after a resident reported that someone threatened to kill them, police announced on Wednesday.

This incident happened earlier this month when police responded to a report of "credible threats of violence" made toward a person living in Menifee who told authorities the suspect had threatened to kill them and had access to firearms, according to the Menifee Police Department.

Police said they quickly intercepted the suspect while they were traveling to "their destination" and conducted a traffic stop.

"Through coordinated teamwork, clear communication, and a disciplined, measured response, officers safely took the suspect into custody without incident," Menifee police said.

During the investigation, officers recovered a loaded firearm from the suspect's vehicle.

Police did not identify the suspect.

"Situations like this highlight the importance of taking threats of domestic violence seriously and reporting them immediately. Early intervention can help prevent violence and protect those at risk," Menifee police said.
