Mercury Identified In Hazardous Materials Incident In Wildomar

WILDOMAR, CA — Firefighters mitigated a hazardous materials incident in Widomar involving mercury Saturday.

The hazard was reported around 11:25 a.m. Saturday in the 24000 block of Magnolia Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The Riverside County Hazardous Materials Team and County Environmental Health responded to the Magnolia Road scene.

At 6:20 p.m., fire officials reported that the hazard on Magnolia Road had been mitigated. Reports of mercury in the 36000 block of Inland Valley Drive in Wildomar, 2300 block of Brook Drive in Canyon Lake, 500 block of Main Street in Lake Elsinore and 2800 block of Bradley Road in Menifee were assessed and determined not to be a threat to the public.

There was no ongoing threat to the surrounding community during the operation, fire officials said, and no evacuation orders were issued.
