Rescue Crews Respond To RivCo Hiker, Bicyclist In Distress Near Diamond Valley Lake: Cal Fire

While en route to the first emergency call, firefighters received a second call regarding a trekker who fainted near the same trail.

HEMET, CA —Rescue crews responded to two separate incidents involving a hiker and a bicyclist in need of medical assistance near Diamond Valley Lake in Hemet Friday afternoon, fire officials said.

A medical emergency was reported at 1:40 p.m. at a trail near the area of Lyon Avenue and Diamond Valley Road, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

Fire officials said the victim called 911 complaining of mobility issues from heat-related cramping.

While en route to the first emergency call, firefighters received a second call regarding a trekker who fainted near the same trail. The second victim reported suffering pain after toppling over on a mountain bike nearby, fire officials said.

Firefighters located both victims within an hour. They were evaluated by paramedics and did not appear to suffer any life-threatening injuries.

Ambulances responded to the scene, but both parties declined further medical attention, fire officials said.

No additional information was immediately available.
