Police said that the victim, whose identity was not released, was riding his eMoto, an off-road electrically powered motorcross-style bike, in the southbound lanes of Briggs when he was struck.

Police said witnesses reported seeing a white vehicle traveling south on Briggs Road while dragging a bicycle underneath its front end.

After the bike became dislodged from the suspected vehicle, the driver continued traveling southbound without slowing down, according to the Menifee Police Department.

The victim was found lying on Briggs Road, just north of Garbani Road, suffering from a severe head wound. Paramedics from the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department pronounced the teenager dead at the scene minutes later.

The vehicle was described as a white "SUV-type," possibly a minivan, likely with damage to the front bumper area and passenger-side headlight, according to the Menifee Police Department.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has additional information related to the investigation was asked to contact Menifee Police Department at 951-723-1500.
