Gas Leak Quickly Contained In Homeland

HOMELAND, CA — A construction crew working near residential properties in Homeland Tuesday punctured a gas main, causing a leak that was quickly mitigated by firefighters.

The rupture was reported just after 11 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Allen and Naumann avenues, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said an engine crew was sent to the location and discovered a two-inch diameter service line had been damaged, exposing surrounding homes to potential hazards.

Firefighters were able to get the gas turned off within a few minutes, making shelter-in-place orders for residents unnecessary. No street closures were implemented either.

SoCal Gas Company technicians reached the site by 11:40 a.m. and initiated repairs.
