RIVERSIDE, CA — One person was killed and several people were injured Sunday in a wrong-way, multi-vehicle crash on a Riverside freeway.
The crash was reported around 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the eastbound lanes of the Riverside (91) Freeway near University Avenue, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log.
One of the involved vehicles was allegedly driving the wrong way and caused the crash, but the exact number of cars involved was unknown.
It was unclear how many people were injured and the extent of their injuries, but one person was confirmed dead.
The crash blocked several lanes and prompted a temporary closure of the freeway, according to the CHP, but as of Sunday afternoon the lanes were reopened.
