Fiery Fatal 91 Freeway Crash Leads To Lengthy Overnight Closure

CORONA, CA — One person died in a fiery two-car crash early Wednesday on the 91 Freeway near the Green River Road off-ramp.

Shortly after 1 a.m., two sedans collided, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson said.

"One vehicle was blocking traffic lanes and was struck by the other vehicle," according to the CHP report.

Three lanes of travel were closed, and a SigAlert was issued for Riverside (91) Freeway near the Green River Road off-ramp for the duration of the crash investigation and cleanup. That alert was canceled by 8:15 a.m.

Video from the scene shows the two wrecked and burnt vehicles being examined by Riverside County Sheriff's deputies. No identities have yet been released, and no information as to the cause of the fatal collision was immediately available.
