SAN JACINTO, CA — One person died and multiple were seriously injured in a traffic collision involving two vehicles in San Jacinto, authorities announced on Friday.
Around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, deputies responded to a collision near Santa Fe Avenue and Midway Street. When they arrived at the scene, the deputies found two cars damaged, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
The driver of one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining occupants and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to a local hospital in critical condition, authorities said.
Authorities did not disclose how many patients were transported to the hospital.
Santa Fe Avenue between Midway Street and Oakwood Street was temporarily closed during the investigation, but has since reopened.
The identity of the driver who died is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification, authorities said.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
