WILDOMAR, CA — A five-story, 102-room hotel planned for 2.4 vacant acres across from the new Kaiser Permanente medical offices along Wildomar Trail has hit delays.

The Costa Mesa-based developer, Wildomar DCW LP, needs additional time to obtain financing for the project at 22720 Wildomar Trail, according to an Aug. 13 letter to the city from the company.

On Wednesday, the Wildomar Planning Commission will consider whether to approve a two-year time extension through Nov. 11, 2028, for the hotel project.

The project was initially approved by the Wildomar City Council on Nov. 11, 2020, and has already received one extension.

According to city documents, the hotel, once built, will be a Marriott brand dubbed the Baxter Village Marriott Hotel.

The proposal was part of a broader concept, the Baxter Village Mixed-Use Project, that called for 75,000 square feet of retail space, 204 apartments and 66 single-family homes. While the retail portion has been scrapped, the developer still maintains approval for the residential component.

The 6 p.m. Oct. 7 Wildomar Planning Commission meeting takes place inside City Council Chambers, 23873 Clinton Keith Road, Suite 106. The full meeting agenda can be viewed online.
