WILDOMAR, CA — A man suspected of selling kratom and flavored nicotine pouches to minors in Wildomar was out of custody Tuesday following his arrest last week, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced.
Samih Fahimmossa Tobia, 46, of Fontana, was arrested at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at a smoke shop in the 22000 block of Palomar Street in Wildomar.
The arrest followed an August complaint regarding selling to minors. Following an investigation, a search warrant was obtained and Tobia was arrested at the business, according to the sheriff's department.
During the search, sheriff's investigators seized kratom pills, kratom powder, kratom drinks, flavored nicotine pouches, flavored loose-leaf tobacco, brass knuckles, and psilocybin mushrooms, valued at approximately $285,000, the law enforcement agency reported.
Kratom is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia. Its leaves contain psychoactive compounds that produce stimulant, sedative, and opioid-like effects. It is illegal to manufacture or sell kratom products for human consumption in California.
Further details about the case were not released.
Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact Deputy Liebzeit at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station: (951) 245-3300.
