I want to apologize to Keven Jeffries. I thought Keven wanted to raise the gas tax. I support transit projects, road repairs, bridge repairs, etc, but people who drive diesel trucks can not afford 20 cents increase per gallon. Also, I am against the Alber Hill project. Nothing should built before Lake street is improved. Why should our city taxes be used to help a developer make money? They should not be allowed to add four years to a 20 year extension.
CEQUA should be redone each time a project is approved in the city and the county. Things change constantly for example, the noise levels increase with the addition of more cars. If 8,000 homes are built this will result in a minimum of 16,000 vehicles. To afford these homes at least two adults must work. Also, with more vehicles the air pollution [which is already hazardous to us] will increase. Public safety according to the Press-Enterprize will be jeopardized.
Why should Pacific Clay not be restored back to open space? Why was a multi-species habitat area which the county set aside given to a developer? Is this even legal? Why should 1,400 acres be given to Castle&Cook? That is our land set aside by the county to protect the endangered species. What right do they have to give it away? Respectfully, L.R.
