Brush Fire Chars An Acre Near 215 Freeway In Menifee: Cal Fire

Firefighters deployed hose lays in the parking lot of a nearby retail business where the blaze reportedly ran out of acreage.

MENIFEE, CA — A brush fire broke out Thursday afternoon next to the 215 Freeway in Menifee, burning just over an acre before the blaze was stopped, fire officials said.

The fire was reported around 3 p.m. next to northbound 215 Freeway at Antelope Road, according Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

Officials said multiple engine crews and truck companies responded to the blaze and encountered flames burning at a slow rate through patchy vegetation adjacent to the freeway.

The fire's forward rate of spread was stopped around 3:30 p.m. Crews were expected to achieve full containment before 4:30 p.m.

No injuries or damage was reported, and traffic on the 215 Freeway was not impacted.
