Brush Fire Ignites Near 71 Corona Expressway, Euclid Offramp Closes

CORONA, CA — A brush fire erupted north of Prado Dam, alongside the Corona (71) Expressway, burning just over an acre before crews from multiple agencies converged on the location.
The non-injury blaze was reported about 12:10 p.m. near the 71 and South Euclid Avenue, bordering the boundary between Riverside and San Bernardino counties, according to a Cal Fire/ Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson.

The agency said that crews from the county, San Bernardino County Fire Department and Corona Fire Department reached the area within 15 minutes and encountered flames in heavy vegetation, moving slowly to the east.
A Cal Fire / Riverside County Fire Department water-dropping helicopter was summoned to make runs on the brusher.

No homes or other structures were immediately threatened.
California Highway Patrol officers shut down the Euclid exit ramp from the 71 for public safety.
As of 12:45 p.m., firefighters were working to establish containment lines, according to reports from the scene.
There was no immediate word on how the blaze started.
