
LAKE MATHEWS, CA — A brush fire that broke out Monday on the western edge of Lake Mathews burned nearly two acres before it was completely contained.
The non-injury blaze was reported about 9:35 a.m. on Cajalco Road, near La Sierra Avenue, a couple of miles south of Riverside and east of Interstate 15, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Crews worked to encircle the brusher until noon, when it was declared 100 percent contained. No homes or other structures were threatened.

The total acreage burned was 1 1/2 acres, according to reports from the scene.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
