Domestic Violence Suspect Flees Authorities, Plummets Off Cliff: Cops

A motorist was trapped inside a vehicle, requiring firefighters to mount a rescue operation.

WOODCREST, CA — A Woodcrest man fled authorities, and drove off a 200-foot embankment, becoming trapped inside his vehicle Thursday, officials say.

"At 10:18 a.m., Riverside County Sheriff's Department deputies were dispatched to the 14000 block of Martin Place regarding a domestic violence incident," Sgt. Deirdre Vickers told Patch.

Upon arrival, deputies attempted to contact the suspect, but he fled from the location and crashed down into a ravine.

"With the assistance of the Riverside Sheriff’s Aviation, deputies searched the area, and the suspect was ultimately taken into custody," Vickers said.

He was hoisted with assistance by the sheriff's STAR-9 helicopter crew.
