Commercial Awning Flung onto Lake Elsinore Home During Storm

It took about 10 firefighters more than an hour to remove the obstruction.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA- A Lake Elsinore residence was partially covered in an awning torn loose Wednesday during a wind-driven downpour, blocking the home’s doors and windows.

The freak event happened about 1:30 p.m. in the 29000 block of McVicker Canyon Park Road, near Spectra Drive, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

An agency spokeswoman said the occupants of the two-story home called 911 after they discovered the tarp-like commercial awning wedged against their door, preventing them from using it.

It took about 10 firefighters more than an hour to remove the obstruction, but no injuries were reported and the home apparently sustained minimal damage.
