Cool & Cloudy Conditions Expected in Lake Elsinore This Halloween Night

Rain showers are likely on Saturday morning.

The biggest Pacific storm system of this rain season will spur cool and mostly cloudy conditions for trick-or-treaters in Riverside County Friday evening, meteorologists said.

Though there is a chance of light rain in the extreme western portions of Riverside County Friday night, showers throughout the rest of the region are most likely Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Due to the cold nature of the storm system, snow is also expected in higher elevations early Saturday.

The NWS scheduled a winter weather advisory in local mountain areas above 6,500 feet from 11 p.m. Friday to 2 p.m. Saturday, saying 1 to 2 inches of snow accumulation is possible between 6,500 and 7,500 feet and 3 to 5 inches is possible above 7,500 feet.

A winter weather advisory is issued whenever periods of snow are expected to cause travel difficulties, including slippery roadways and limited visibility.

The heaviest snow showers are expected to occur Saturday morning.

Mountain areas and the Coachella Valley are expected to also be hit with strong winds Friday evening. A wind advisory for the mountains and Coachella Valley is scheduled from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday. In issuing the wind advisory, the Weather Service said that west to southwest sustained winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour are possible, along with widespread gusts up to 55 mph and gusts up to 65 mph in the most wind-prone areas.

A wind advisory means that winds strong enough to make driving difficult are expected.

“Conditions will improve late Saturday afternoon,” the NWS said.
