David A. Brown Middle School Parent Warning!

In the "good ol' days", middle school was a place for learning, a time for social awkwardness, and an unforgettable time in the life of a child. Unfortunately, in today's world, middle school is also a place where threats of gun violence are a very real and scary thing, like at David A. Brown Middle School on Thursday February 16th. What is even more scary is that the school did little to nothing to protect their students and took little action to notify parents and teachers to this potentially deadly threat.

Last Thursday, a student threatened specific students which in turn threatened the whole school at David A. Brown Middle School. He threatened gun violence in the classroom in front of a teacher and other students. The school did not notify the parents of the school and gave no indication as to what they would do to keep our children safe. This morning, Tuesday February 21st, 2017, after promises of student safety being a priority, THE STUDENT WAS ALLOWED TO WALK ON CAMPUS!

David A. Brown clearly takes the safety of students with a grain of salt and clearly does not prioritize the peace of mind of parents. The administrators should be held accountable for these terrible decisions and flagrant disregard for our students' safety!Please contact the district and let them know how you feel. Please contact anyone who will listen to you if you are parent of a student at David A. Brown. Security needs to be increased and it will take the whole David A. Brown community to stand up and demand better protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of our kids.
