Dog Rescued From Canal in Riverside
The dog was stuck in the canal and an animal services officer was able to safely retrieve the dog.

In the sweltering heat of the Inland Empire in recent days, even a dog wants to cool off in any way possible.
One dog decided a swim in the canal in Riverside was a good way to do it.

Riverside County Animal Services responded to the call shortly after to 2 p.m. Wednesday and found the dog in the historic Gage Canal. The German sherpherd was rescued within minutes of the officer’s arriving.
The dog was located in a section of the canal near Bradley and Grace streets and a few miles south of Highway 91. It’s unclear how the dog got into the canal.

While the canal only stretches a few feet across, but the walls can be steep and, sometimes, very slick, according to Animal Services.
The canal is a historic waterway that runs from the Santa Ana Rivers and through several miles of Riverside.
