Dump Truck Fire, Three Car Pileup: RivCo Freeways And Roadways Slow For Emergency Responses

On Thursday, Riverside County roadways stalled for numerous crashes and a trash truck fire.

JURPA VALLEY, CA — Traffic incidents drew firefighters to scenes in Eastvale and Jurupa Valley Thursday afternoon, California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department shared.

At 2 p.m., smoke erupted from the back of a Waste Management refuse truck, a Cal Fire spokesperson told Patch. Firefighters responded to the area of Limonite and Cedar Creek Road where the trash truck contents were actively ablaze.

The truck dumped its load and firefighters quelled the burning refuse, managing the scene. Waste Management was called to the area to assist before the incident closed by 3:15 p.m.

A three vehicle crash has injured two people on the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway at Rubidoux Boulevard in Jurupa Valley, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m., a white Kia K4, a white Toyota Corolla and a white Dodge Ram pickup truck all collided and ended in the middle of the freeway, CHP dispatch reported.

Firefighters and medics arrived at the scene of the crash, and evaluated two patients, both who declined medical transport to area hospitals, against medical advice.

One traffic lane was shut down during the incident, as tow trucks arrived to remove disabled vehicles from the scene. No other information was immediately available.
