Deadly Lake Elsinore Single Car Crash Stalls Morning Traffic

One person died early Thursday morning in Lake Elsinore near the intersection of Lake Street and Lakeshore Drive.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — One person was killed Thursday morning in Lake Elsinore after a single car crashed into a telephone pole on Lake Street, officials say.

Just after 6 a.m., emergency responders arrived at the scene in the 29000 block of Lake Street to find a vehicle had collided with a telephone pole. The lone occupant was mortally injured and trapped inside the vehicle, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Though Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters attempted lifesaving measures, the sole occupant died at the crash scene, according to a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson.

Riverside County Sheriff's Department was investigating the cause of the crash, and the coroner's office has withheld the victim's name pending notification of next of kin.
