Female Motorcyclist Killed On Ortega Highway ID'd By Coroner

The crash was reported on the westbound side of the Ortega Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — A female motorcyclist killed in a crash on the Ortega (74) Highway over the weekend has been identified as a Costa Mesa resident.

Kiana Nguyen, 34, died following the crash on the Orange County side of the highway in San Juan Capistrano, according to the Orange County coroner's office.

The crash was reported at 8:20 a.m. Sunday on the westbound side of the Ortega Highway around Antonio Parkway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Nguyen was riding her 2015 Yamaha R3 motorcycle at an unknown rate of speed, said Officer R. Knauss, who investigated the crash.

She "veered to the right across the right shoulder and struck the rock wall embankment," Knauss said.

Paramedics took Nguyen to Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo where she was pronounced dead, the officer said.
