'Freeway Kitty' Rescued By CHP In Riverside County
The little fluffball was scooped up from the median after being spotted by an officer and is recovering from its ordeal at Animal Services.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — While patrolling Highway 91 this week, near 14th Street in Riverside, California Highway Patrol Officer Jose Renteria spied a kitten in a precarious predicament, as it was huddled near the heavily trafficked freeway's median.
Renteria managed to safely save this tiny fella, according to Riverside County Animal Services, the agency now caring for the kitten.
Dubbed "Freeway Kitty," the feline on Tuesday was "enjoying some grub! He was hungry! Poor guy," the department said. "Who knows where he was originally and how he managed to get next to the median along busy Highway 91 without getting squashed."

Thanks, Officer Renteria, from animal lovers everywhere. And if "Freeway Kitty" could speak, he'd likely thank you, too!
