The sharp increases that pushed the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire to its highest amount since May 12, 2014, appeared to end Friday with an increase of three-tenths of a cent to $4.198.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties had risen 71.5 cents over the previous seven days, including 3.7 cents on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
“It appears that the markets are settling down with the wholesale price in L.A. giving back about half of last week’s more than $1 per gallon increase,” said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
