Great News For Area's Children's Health Facilities
Approved on Tuesday was $3.5 million from state and federal sources for two Riverside University Health System facilities serving kids.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA - Appropriations totaling $3.5 million were approved Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors for improvements to two Riverside University Health System facilities that provide behavioral and other specialized care for children.
In a 5-0 vote without comment, the board authorized a budget of $1.82 million for upgrades to the RUHS early intervention center at 3075 Myers St. and a budget of $1.72 million for improvements to the RUHS children's behavioral health clinic at 3125 Myers St., both in the city of Riverside.
The funds originated from state and federal sources. No county general fund money will be used, according to Riverside County Economic Development Agency documents.

Both facilities are undergoing remodels and extensions, and the funds will go toward the second phase of each project.
According to the EDA, the early intervention center improvements will include a new elevator, enlarged break room for staff, electrical upgrades and construction of various accommodations to remain in compliance with the federal
Americans with Disabilities Act. The behavioral health clinic improvements will include an expanded reception area, ADA-related modifications and other upgrades to make the building more modern.

The projects are expected to take more than a year to complete.
