Head-On Crash Seriously Injures 2 People, Prompts Road Closure Near MoVal

LAKEVIEW, CA — Two people were hospitalized Friday in a head-on collision in the area of Lakeview, requiring firefighters to extricate one person and prompting a road closure.

The crash was reported at 5:55 a.m. Friday at Gilman Springs and Eden Hot Springs roads, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency stated that arriving crews encountered a two-vehicle head-on collision with major damage and one vehicle was on its side. An individual was trapped and freed from the wreckage after about an hour of effort.

Two people sustained moderate injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

Gilman Springs Road was temporarily closed in both directions.

The cause of the crash was under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
