How To Watch Tonight's Lunar Eclipse In Lake Elsinore, Wildomar

LAKE ELSINORE-WILDOMAR, CA — On late Thursday evening and into the early Friday morning, there will be a partial — but nearly total — lunar eclipse viewable from Lake Elsinore and Wildomar.

The eclipse should be visible to the unaided eye anywhere in Southern California, although in Lake Elsinore and Wildomar forecasters are calling for partly cloudy skies.

The eclipse will begin around 11:30 p.m. Nov. 18 and continue through 1:30 a.m. Nov. 19 local time.

It is safe to view the lunar eclipse without any eye protection, and you do not need a telescope to see it. During the eclipse the moon will travel through the Earth's shadow, giving it a red hue. Just go outside and look up to the south!

You can also watch the lunar eclipse via a live stream event. Beginning at 11:30 p.m., City of Rancho Mirage Astronomer Eric McLaughlin will train telescopes on the moon to get views of the fascinating astronomical event.
