Leaders Come Together Ahead Of June 9 Protest In Lake Elsinore
In an effort to have dialogue ahead of Tuesday's protest march in Lake Elsinore, city leaders, police and event organizers met over a meal.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — City leaders and police broke bread over the weekend with the organizer of Tuesday's Stand Up For Justice protest march scheduled in Lake Elsinore — which by all accounts is expected to be peaceful.
In a social media post from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station that talked about Sunday's meal-time meeting and the upcoming march, the message was one of solidarity.
"We are proud to be part of this event and even more excited that we are establishing stronger relationships in the community," the post read.

According to the Lake Elsinore station, Lake Elsinore youth organized the protest march and everyone at the table Sunday was intent on making the event safe for protesters, businesses, bystanders, and the community at large.
"Everyone was open and receptive to different ideas," the post continued. "After the meeting, we walked up and down Main Street explaining our cooperation to businesses. At the end of the day, the goal was to get the message across that we all must Stand Up for Justice.

Deputies will be out during the protest, and according to the post the event is "an opportunity for growth in the community. If there are criminal acts from anyone, it will be addressed appropriately."
In a social media post from Lake Elsinore Mayor Brian Tisdale, who was at Sunday's meeting with Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Captain Michael Lujan, he encouraged residents to join in Tuesday's "demonstration against injustice."
Tisdale described Tuesday's event organizer as "a young Lake Elsinore resident that is concerned about the injustice that took place against George Floyd and all people of color.
"It was a horrible act," Tisdale continued, "and all of Lake Elsinore should speak out against it. Captain Lujan and I are going to march with the group on Tuesday. This is a peaceful demonstration against injustice."
The 12 p.m. protest march is scheduled to start at downtown's City Park and will end at 2 p.m. at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station on Limited Avenue.
On June 3, a similar peaceful protest march was held in downtown. See photos and read the story: Protest In Lake Elsinore Sends Message Of Peace
