Lake Elsinor-Wildomar Gasoline Price Drops For 21st Day

Twenty-one days and counting. Will the trend continue?

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire dropped Friday for the 21st consecutive day, decreasing 3.6 cents to $3.831.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has dropped 36.7 cents over the past 21 days, including 4.2 cents on Thursday, largest daily decrease since Oct. 27, 2012, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The decreases follow a nine-day streak of increases totaling 72.1 cents that pushed the average price to its highest amount since May 12, 2014.

The average price is 21.2 cents less than one week ago and 6.3 cents lower than one year ago but 35.1 cents more than one month ago.

“Local wholesale prices have plunged by nearly $1.50 since July 9, but so far average retail prices have only dropped by about 40 cents, leaving a lot of room for them to drop further and faster,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s communications manager.
