Lake Elsinore Brush Fire Halted

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A brush fire that broke out Monday in a field northeast of Lake Elsinore scorched roughly two acres before it was stopped.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 3:40 p.m. in the area of Cambern Avenue and 10th Street, just east of Interstate 15, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

Multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate through open space more than 1,000 feet from the nearest homes.

Firefighters quickly established hose lays and halted the fire's forward rate of spread just after 4 p.m., fire officials said.

Cal Fire aircraft that were initially requested to assist were abruptly canceled.

As of 4:25 p.m., the brusher was fully contained.
