Lake Elsinore Daycare Employee Accused of Sexually Abusing Child

Police say there may be more possible victims.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA- A Lake Elsinore man has been arrested on charges of sexual assault after sheriff's officials say he allegedly abused a minor at a local daycare facility.

According to Sheriff's Sgt. Steve Brosche, police were alerted on Thursday to "an allegation of sexual abuse on a minor" at Rea Family Daycare. After some investigation, authorities arrested a suspect.

Jacob Blas, 20, lives at the single-family residence where the licensed daycare facility is housed, according to Brosche. He's accused of sexually abusing a minor in 2015, while the child attended the daycare.

Jail booking records indicated Blas was being held at the Murrieta jail on $3 million bail on 14 felony counts related to child sexual assault, lewd acts on a minor younger than 14 and oral copulation with a child.

Now, sheriff's officials are working with Child Protective Services and Department of Social Services are asking anyone who had children attend the facility to speak with them, as they fear there may be more possible victims.

"Lake Elsinore detectives are asking for parents to speak to their children if they attended this daycare facility within the last few years," Brosche said. "Anyone with information is encouraged to call and speak with Detective David Schell if they have any questions or suspect their child may be a victim."

That detective can be reached at 951-245-3300. Anonymous calls may be made into the sheriff's tip line at 1-800-950-2444.
